I have a Dream

I think I have named posts this before... so apparently I have a lot of dreams...

Anyhoo. This is one I have had for a while. I have thought and thought and thought about it and now I want to ask you guys.

Ok. I don't know why I am so nervous! GAH!

Ok.

So obviously I am not a small woman. I mean I am short but I am still in "plus sizes". And something that has always bothered me is that there are NO cute workout tank tops for us. We are stuck wearing over-sized t-shirts, not feeling cute or confident. And what workout shirts we do have are too short, so we have to wear a tank top underneath so our stomachs don't show during shoulder presses and it is just a mess of feeling uncomfortable and not so great about ourselves.

PLUS cute workout tanks are like a basic human right. They make you feel cute and sassy, and make you more likely to workout.

But there is literally NOTHING. I fit into the XXL workout tanks at Old Navy (because I like them flowy) but I am a size 16, which is HARDLY plus sized. When I was bigger- nothing. And I love Ruffles with Love. Really, I do. She is such an awesome human being and I recommend her and her store to everyone I meet. But I do not comfortably fit into an XXL in her sizes. I don't. They are not flowy, they hug my problem spots and I wont wear them out of the house.

Excuse my weird faces, they were not meant to be shown lol

So disappointed in the options out there (ie NONE) I decided to do something about it. Or at least think about doing something about it because actually doing something is going to be really involved and expensive but worth it I think. But before I move any further, I want to know if this is something people want, and would buy, or if I am crazy and the only person wishing for this.

Specifically- cute plus size flowy workout tanks with cute sayings, like the two above. Because apparently the issue is that there are literally NO plus size workout flowy tanks in existence to purchase, I would have to make my own, meaning working with a manufacturer to create my own line.

So pretty pretty please fill this out so I can decide if I should make this a thing, or let it go live with baby Jesus. It is keeping me awake at night so I need to know lol.

  1. Ok--I can't answer your form--because I'm not in "plus size" clothing anymore. BUT if I was, I would totally buy one! If you feel strongly that there is a market out there and you are passionate about it--go for it!! I like to make headbands--I started it because I figured out how to make them myself, people said they were cute and I should sell them--so I did. There are tons of other headband stores all over IG and Etsy--really big and popular ones--but it doesn't mean I can't enjoy what I'm doing too. Am I gonna quit my job? No--but I enjoy doing it! That's what you have to think of--is there a need? And will I enjoy doing it? And I would totally buy some to support you, even if I couldn't wear them, and use them as awesome giveaways OR gifts!! (PS--read my blog today--and you can use my hashtag for your first shirt:) xoxoxoxo

  2. I love the idea!!! I fit in her tanks the same way you do!!! I actually made my own tank last week, I have a cricut, got some iron on vinyl and went to town. I want a tank that has cute sayings. I hate that there aren't places out there that have them for plus size. And the XXL could fit a damn baby. I like to feel comfortable in my workout clothes. I fully support your dream, and would love you forever!!!

  3. I think you should do it Jess! Personally, I like miy tanks a little fitted because they don't ride up when I'm doing mountain climbers or burpees or heck, even jumping jacks; however, when I was a size 16, I would have felt more comfortable in a flowy tank. BUT I think you should have all sizes so that we can all support your new venture! I love a cute workout tank with a cute saying on it.

  4. Ugh! I have been wanting to find plus size tanks to work out in and CAN'T. It's so frustrating! So I'd be all about this if you did! How else are we going to encourage people to work out if they don't have clothes to wear?

  6. I don't like flowy tanks because what happens when you do a burpee? The tank falls towards your head. I like things tight at the gym even if it does reveal all my lumps and bumps.

  7. I love your idea! Every girl deserves to wear clothes that they want to wear! Not what designers create.

  8. I personally have never ordered from Ruffles with Love, because of length issues. I can shop in Old Navy stores and I usually wear an XL but the tank tops are too short (I am 5'9 and carry most of my weight in my stomach). I would love to have women's cut tshirts and tanks with the cute sayings.

  10. I didn't vote because I just don't wear tank tops. Period. Ever. Upper arms are one of my "bad" spots and it just isn't happening. Cute concept and idea and I know a lot of other "big girls" wear them, so I say rock on with your idea. It's great.

  15. Ok, so I just got around to replying....I said no...not because I think it's a terrible idea, because in fact, I think it's a great idea if you have a passion for it. I said no, because it's just something I wouldn't spend money on. Partly because I don't buy much of anything for myself and I work out at home...in my pj's...braless.....in the dark!

I say go for it though! It's a great idea and we need more clothes for larger women that don't look like they came from my gramma's closet.
