Operation Skinny Jeans: Why rewards are important

Why rewards are important

Something I haven't been very good about is rewarding my success. I think rewards are a huge motivational tool, but for some reason I haven't been using them. I think maybe because my weight loss goals haven't been achieved quite as fast as I wanted, I didn't feel worthy of a reward? maybe? which is stupid!

My success isn't defined by how many pounds I have lost, so I have stopped that nonsense. In a way buying new sized jeans is a "reward" but on the other hand it's also not because I need to wear pants to work. My boss really frowns upon me not wearing pants, something about indecent exposure blah blah blah.

So while it is fun to buy new jeans, it feels less reward-y.

If you are someone that can lose focus when things are moving kinda slowly, rewards are key. They are little things to work toward that are achievable in a reasonable amount of time. When it feels like it takes 3 months to lose 10 lbs, getting a reward in the middle for sticking WITH something can keep you going without feeling super frustrated :D

So yesterday I decided to reward myself.

I am super proud of my P90X3 success so far, and that keeps me going, but I haven't rewarded myself because I haven't hit another weight goal. But when I saw this dress at So Lola Boutique, I knew it was meant to be :D

So Lola Boutique

I already feel beautiful in it and its not even on my body yet! lol I am obsessed with the colors and the cut and all of it. I can't wait to wear it :D

So even if you feel like you are getting nowhere, if you are still sticking with it, cut yourself some slack and reward yourself! It might just give you that motivation to keep on going :D

  1. Rewards are seriously SO important for fitness and weight loss, especially keeping motivation up. You have so much insight into healthy living and motivation, I love it! Yum! What a great winter recipe. Broccoli stems are my favorite part, so I always eat them before I can cook with them, but this recipe may be worth the wait!

  5. That is an awesome dress! I just bought a whole lot of winter tops as we are heading into cooler weather now here in New Zealand, and all my tops from last year are two sizes too big or breastfeeding tops. I do believe in non-food and non-clothes rewards too, and a facial or getting my nails done is also a nice reward.
