You're gonna hear me roar!

I have always loved music. I hear music in my soul and I really connect with lyrics. Listening to the radio has actually brought me to tears. Yes, I am a dork, but its just the way I am. I was brought up with music all around, and in our house listening to music was similar to watching tv. At night we would each get to pick a song, and we would put it in, sit in the dark and just LISTEN. I don't think people consume music this way too often now a days, but I can't resist just sitting and actually listening to a song.

Which brings me to Katy Perry's new song, Roar.
Something in this song connects with me on a carnal level. It's like it was written about me. The lyrics are so empowering and the beat calls you to action. When I hear it, I want to run and never stop. That is the power of music to me. It's more than background noise. It's an activity.

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me ROAR

What songs speak to you like this? Did you ever listen to music like that or was it just my family? lol

I grew up the same way as you!!! so you're not the only one!! there's a memory attached to many songs even TV shows I still can't hear "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol without thinking about Denny dying in Grey's Anatomy!! (I've actually cried yes DORK right here!! ) but there's also songs that have no memory attached but speak to me like "Roar" for you so I get you!! Music is a wonderful thing that can change our moods and thoughts in a second!! "ROAR" is a great song!! very empowering it gives me that UMPH!! that I can do anything LOVE IT!!!! Esther M.
