Trip Recap!

Phew! I am back! Man that was an awesome and exhausting vacation! I am sure you don't care about a specific run down of what we did, so I am just going to do some highlights. :D

This was a road trip vacation. We drove from Denver, CO to Tucson, AZ then to Oceanside, CA, then home. We put over 2,500 miles on our car in 8 days. It was fun and long and tiring and really cool to see so many states in one trip. We drove through or visited Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah.

Here is a map:

On Saturday, we drove to Tucson to see my Aunt and Uncle. We basically just hung out which was really nice and relaxing. There was some pool time and some exercising, but other than that, nothing to strenuous. Then on Wednesday we drove to San Diego and I met a girl I have known on the internet for 4 years. Nikki was awesome and we had a really great time hanging out with her. We saw Coronado Island and went into downtown San Diego which was really cool.

A few hours later we drove the rest of the way to Oceanside to see my brother in law and sister in law and my adorable 2 year old niece. We had a lot of fun with them, and my in laws flew in to join us, and it was also really relaxing and nice. The drive home was generally terrible and long, but I think 18 hours in the car is too many :D

Some fun things we did were:

  1. Stand in the ocean. I love the ocean :D I wont dip my whole body into it, but I love getting my legs wet.
  2. Shot a gun for the first time. My brother in law is in the Navy and really knowledgable about guns, so he taught Andy and I how to use a 9mm, a 45 and a AR 15 Rifle. I actually really enjoyed myself and I was better than I expected at it. I even got a bullseye!

Things I did to stay healthy:

  1. Exercised! I did a little Blogilates and the Rip Deck app, as well as running outside and swimming. We walked on the beach (which is hella hard) and chased a 2 year old around, which totally counts :D
  2. Made good choices! This is really hard when you are stuck in a car, but we packed healthy snacks for the road to keep us on track! Included were celery and peanut butter, mushrooms and home made sandwiches instead of fast food for lunch. Also while we were on vacation, we tried not to eat out, and when we did it wasn't fast food.
Over all it was a great vacation. Being healthy on vacation wasn't easy, but it wasn't that hard either. Just remember everything in moderation and move a little, and you should be fine :D

  1. Sounds like a nice trip, although I have no problem with long car rides. Great job with all your healthy choices, and chasing a 2-year-old totally counts! Glad to have you back!

  2. That looks like so much fun! My family and I drove from Texas to San Diego one year! Such a blast!

  3. Sounds like a fun trip! I LOVE road trips -- and it is SO hard to eat on track when traveling. Kudos to you, friend!

  4. Love the killing zombies pic! I recently found the Zombies Run 5k training app and love it as well. Who doesn't like zombies? lol

  5. Sounds like A LOT of fun :) We did the drive for LA to Salt Lake City once... WAY TOO LONG to be in a car! LOL

  6. My, I really envy you guys for spending your summer with so much fun and exciting adventures! How I wish I try gun shooting too! But I can’t imagine myself holding a gun and shooting that zombie! I would really look so hilarious! I would say, that was really brave and cool of you!
