Operation Skinny Jeans: Bugged

Bugged

As I eluded to a while ago, I got a Body Bugg (tho I think it's technically called a "Body Media" device, but whatever).

A while back, when I was on Weight Watchers, I was really excited when they unleashed the Active Link. I think the key to weight loss is awareness, which is why I am big on tracking. I loved that it showed me how much activity I got in a day, but on the same note I was really disappointed with how unreliable it was. I would walk for 10 minutes and earn one activity point, then lift weights for 30 minutes and earn zero. It's downfalls were one of my key reasons for leaving the program. I wanted more.

I have since been counting calories, which is going great, and so after a little research, the Body Bugg seemed like a great idea for me. I have been wearing it for about a month, and I really love it so far! I really can't say anything negative about it.

I didn't track my food on Saturday. oops :D

What I love:

  • It tracks how many calories I burn a day.
  • It syncs with Myfitnesspal to track how many calories I consume a day. It is smart enough to do the math and tell me my daily deficit.
  • It monitors my moderate and vigorous activity, and tells me how much of each I get a day (and compares it to a goal I set)
  • It tracks my steps :D
  • It tracks my sleep!
  • I can set it to track a specific work out, so I know how many calories I burn while running, for example.
  • It syncs in real time with my phone wirelessly. I don't have to plug it in every night to sync
  • It has a really great battery life! I have to charge it every two weeks maybe.
  • I wear it all the time. I only take it off to shower.

Ok ok I should stop bragging. I really do love it.

Does it have any cons? Only one.

I wish it had a live heart rate monitor.

But for all the other things it does, I can deal :D

(Btw! I do wanna say that I was not paid or perked to write this post. I bought my bugg with my own monies and all the opinions are my own :D )

Another update! : I bought it at my local 24 hr fitness *tho I am not a member there* and it was $125. You can buy them online too. I have the link.

Do you have a Body Media Device? How do you track your activity?

  4. I have one (we've talked about it on instagram lately). I'm just wondering how to set my METS. When I first got it it said I was burning a crazy amount of calories for doing barely anything. I've adjusted it a few times but now I'm second guessing if it's right. I've tried getting info online about it but can't find anything.

  6. That's awesome! I've never even heard of a body bug...it may be a little much for me though. I tend to get obsessive when I have too much information.

What was that Weight Watchers thing you said you tried? Is it a separate device?

  8. I used to have one of these and I loved it! I actually still have it but I just cancelled my subscription to it. I really loved the way it tells you the % of nutrients and the amount of sleep you get.

  9. I have a fitbit and love it (similar concept to the BodyBugg.) It's small so no one even knows you're wearing it. It tracks calories burned, etc. and the website where you sync is free to use.
